Breeder: Dirty Bird Genetics
Genetics: Bubba Whip! x Unicorn Poop F1
Cannabis Type: Indica
Filial Generation: F1
Flowering time: 58-63 days
Yield: Average/high
Phenotypic Variation: Low
Density: High
Height: Tall
Plant Morphology: The Unicorn Whip grows pretty traditionally, but stretches up to 2x in flower due to the Unicorn Poop parentage. This plant packs on tons of sugar-coated buds which are ideal for extracts and hashes. Expect some mild purple hues to come out in the sugar leaves towards the end of her life. Resilient under different feeding schedules, this is a great plant for both beginners and connoisseurs.
Terpenes: Gassy and earthy. Limonene and Caryophyllene are dominant across phenotypes. Linalool and pinene are also prevalent.
Effect: If you’re looking for a knockout indica with the power to stop Paul Bunyan in his tracks, then look no further. Unicorn Whip can melt even experienced smokers into a couch just by looking at it.
Notes from Growers: The Unicorn Whip has that quintessential kush look to it with thick, rock hard golf ball nugs and sugary, lime green flower. Twenty20 Mendocino’s Bubba Whip! cut seems to pass that along to anything it touches. You really can’t go wrong with this plant if you’re looking for a mind-melting indica effect from a plant that is tolerant, chunky, and easy to grow when properly trained. We had 1 pheno out of our most recent hunt that stayed short and bushy (5-10% prevalence) and we’re hoping to use her in future breeding projects to make Unicorn Whip better suited for low ceiling and tent grows.
A cross between the Unicorn Poop by Thug Pug and Twenty20 Mendocino’s Bubba Whip, the Unicorn Whip was a project re-bred by Dirty Bird Genetics over the past year due to high demand and lots of positive feedback from growers who had received it as a freebie and loved its great extraction potential and undeniable bag appeal.
The Unicorn Whip grows very similarly to the Unicorn Poop both in plant morphology and bud structure: they’re tall with long internodal spacing and they drip with gritty, gassy trichomes. The Bubba Whip’s kush lineage is apparent in the plant’s coloration and calyx formation. In testing the Unicorn Whip, we found a surprising Bubba-Whip dominant outlier pheno that appeared in approximately 1 in 10 plants and was short, squat, bushy, and stacked very nicely. We chose one of these as an obvious keeper along with the best of the more dominant, taller phenotype.
Much like their parents, the real magic happens in the final 1-2 weeks of flower in a Unicorn Whip grow. The plants gain a lot of their mass and a lot of their bag appeal in these final days, finishing between day 55-60 with ripe, snow-white, glistening flowers. The terpenes, which also developed late, range from rubbing alcohol to a bright gas, aligning with their parents more musky, gassy, earthy terpene profiles.
Expect a 2x stretch, and staking required. We suspect these plants would be great for scrogging. Most notably, this bud makes for some killer extractions, so if you’re an extract lover, don’t sleep on this one!
